Diagnostic value of electrocardiogram during routine electroencephalogram

چکیده
Introduction: A single-lead electrocardiogram (EKG) is routinely recorded with electroencephalogram (EEG). This study investigates the frequency and types of EKG abnormalities during routine EEG.Methods: All EEGs (20–60 min) over one year were retrospectively analyzed. blinded cardiologist interpreted recordings. An epileptologist evaluated EEGs. Demographic data, underlying comorbidities, indications for EEG extracted. Results: total 433 recordings 365 patients included. Mean (±SD) age was 46.8 (±21.3) years 50.4% females. detected in 28.5% patients; sinus tachycardia (11%), premature ventricular contractions (7.9%), atrial fibrillation (Afib) (6.3%), bradycardia (2.2%) (1.1%). Afib more common females than males (p = 0.020), confirmed six out seven discovered 17 patients. Age (OR: 1.67, 95%CI: 1.05–2.66, p 0.031), prior diagnosis epilepsy 2.25, 95% CI: 1.22 – 4.14, 0.009), history seizure 1.97, 1.09–3.54, 0.024), abnormal 2.14, 1.25 3.66, 0.005) evaluating seizures/epilepsy 4.18, 1.32 13.21, 0.015) or syncope 3.21, 1.16 8.84, 0.024) independently associated EKG.Conclusion: The captured high, being most significant. Older age, seizure, EEGs, significant predictors. These findings suggest neurologists to become vigilant as such might have diagnostic therapeutic implications.

Diagnostic value of routine liver tests.
In 131 patients on a medical service and 97 patients on a surgical service, in whom a diagnosis of hepatobiliary disease was verified in the hospital, the diagnostic value of routine liver tests performed soon after admission was evaluated by stepwise discriminant analysis. By measurements of alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatases, gamma globulin, prothrombin time, bilirubin, and album...

THE INTRODUCTION Of a wide variety of anaesthetac agent,;, the develo'gmcnt of many new and complex tectmlques, and the ever increasing magmtude o_" surgical procedure have so altered the practice of c~inlcal anaesthesia that the tradilaonal concepts of the signs of anaesthette depth are no longer adequate or accurate. The scheme for the clinxcal signs of anaesthesia elaborated by Guedel (1) ba...

This study examined the welfare implications of euthanizing broilers with 3 gas mixtures relevant to the commercial application of controlled atmosphere stunning (CAS). Birds were implanted/equipped with electrodes to measure brain activity (electroencephalogram, EEG) and heart rate. These signals were recorded using a purpose-built telemetry-logging system, small enough to be worn by each bird...
متن کاملPrognostic value of predischarge 12 lead electrocardiogram after myocardial infarction compared with other routine clinical variables.
The prognostic value of QRS score (Selvester), ST depression, ST elevation, extrasystoles, P terminal force in V1, and QTc derived from the predischarge 12 lead electrocardiogram was assessed after myocardial infarction in 474 patients without intraventricular conduction defects, ventricular hypertrophy, or atrial fibrillation. The usefulness of these results in risk assessment was compared wit...
متن کاملHypoglycemia-associated electroencephalogram and electrocardiogram changes appear simultaneously.
BACKGROUND Tight glycemic control in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) may be accomplished only if severe hypoglycemia can be prevented. Biosensor alarms based on the body's reactions to hypoglycemia have been suggested. In the present study, we analyzed three lead electrocardiogram (ECG) and single-channel electroencephalogram (EEG) in T1DM patients during hypoglycemia. MATERIALS AND ME...
